Favorite photos of the year #4

Sorry a little behind on the favorites, I love the week between Christmas and New Years, but I never get anything done. I took this photo back in June of an OSU Student who did some research on Chickens and bird Flu, we took this kid (who was a great sport) all over campus with this chicken, this photo was shot in one of the old chicken coops on campus.

Favorite photos of the year #3

Every wedding I photograph I can not help but think about my girls and when they get married. What will I say what will I think etc.
Damien and Rebekka had a wonderful wedding this summer with many wonderful moments, but when Rebekka's dad gave his toast he choked up and could barely get the words out. It was a wonderful dad daughter moment that brought a tear to my eye.

Favorite photos of the year #2

I take lots of photos on campus, this one was for University Housing and Dining, they needed photos of students in one of the Resident Halls studying so I was there one evening for a couple of hours.

More snow at home

For the second time this week we have had over 4 inches of snow at our house. Me and the girls were out sledding this morning at 7:30 am.

Favorite photos of the year

The end of the year is a good time for reflection on what we do, so from now until the end of the year I am going to post my 10 favorite photos of the year. They are not in any particular order, and I am going to try to cover all the aspects of what I photograph.

Photo number 1 was shot in July at the wedding of my cousin Kane's oldest daughter Emily. The wedding was at Kane and Nancy's home in Enterprise Oregon. They live on the slopes of the Wallowa Mt's the 9000 plus foot peaks rise directly behind the home. Seth (the groom) is from Indiana and I kept wondering to myself what his family and friends from the flat midwest thought about the area.

This photo is of the couple driving from the wedding to the reception.

Pot Art

I potographed some pots for a catalog for a local company, we thought they looked like modern art, so I put them together and got this.

Now that summer is ending I have been shooting more for OSU, here are two recent ones, a retired professor who created a meter that tells how much moisture is in plants, the second on is a student who studies crabs in Peru I think.

Wedding on a Blog

A while back a women who runs a wedding Blog contacted me and ask if she could use some photos of mine on her wedding blog, I said sure and did not think about it again. Then yesterday I got a bunch of hits on my website from this site snippetandink.blogspot.com and went to look at it to see why.

Well she had put my photos up Saturday from that wedding last year, and the funny thing, I was going back to that same venue for the first time yesterday to shoot another wedding there of some friends of the original couple. Weird!

Yes more seniors

Jen top, and Ali bottom, from Corvallis High School, and Crescent Valley respectively. Both had black dresses we have done a lot more dresses this year. Makes for nice photos.

Matt Branda and Cameron

I photographed Matt and Branda's wedding three years ago and last week I went up to Portland to photograph them and three 6-month old baby boy Cameron.

August is by far out busiest month, We have a senior almost every evening, and Shari is showing photos every evening, but we enjoy photographing them so we don't mind. Here is Emily form last week

Riley's Birthday

For Riley's 8th birthday a few weeks ago we set up our photo booth in the living room. We put a camera on a tripod and the kids can remotely fire the camera themselves. We have done this at weddings before and people love it so did the kids. To see all the photos click here.


P.S. The over/under of the number of times my mom watches this is 894 it has 4 of her 5 grandkids in it

Rebekka & Damien

Photograped a wonderful wedding Saturday at the Portland Whitehouse. Rebekka and Damien were great to work with the groomsmen had me laughing all day, and there were some very touching moments. You can see a slideshow of the wedding by CLICKING HERE.

Wedding in Enterprise Oregon

Me and the family spent four days in beautiful Wallow County Oregon. I photographed my cousin's daughter Emily and new husband Seth's wedding. I was a great wedding in a beautiful setting. You can see a slideshow of the wedding by clicking here.

My favorite wedding photo ever!

The wedding I was at this weekend had the most beautiful well behaved flower girls ever! Their mom drove me crazy trying to keep their hair brushed and the dresses clean before the ceremony started, but the mom is really cute so I let it slide. Here is one of my favorite photos of them.


p.s. if you don't know they are my girls, our babysitter/third daughter Sarah married her long time boyfriend Jeremy this weekend in Portland, and the girls were the flower girls. Riley wore a dress that Sarah wore as a flower girl when she was a kid, and Sarah's mom also wore it as a flower girl dress. They were both so excited to be in the wedding, and were are very happy for Sarah and Jeremy, but we already miss having Sarah around.

Mars Rover Team

A team of OSU students recently won a robotics competition based on the Mars Rover story here. I shot a group shot of them but I like this photo better.

OSU Graduation

I always love to shoot OSU graduation, I think I have shot it at least 12-15 times in the 2o years. I always see people I know who are graduating, and I skipped it 15 years ago when I graduated and have always regretted it. This year I saw neighbor and fellow OSU football tailgater Wiley Thompson, I am pretty sure he got his PhD, and Pam Partington who worked for me last year as a graphic designer, Pam was great to work with and is super talented, and in search of a job, so if you know any one hiring let me know.
Our wonderful baby sitter Sarah Stenzel who took care of Riley and Regan for the last three years, also graduated, I did not get a good photo of her, sorry Sarah, maybe when you graduate from nursing school.

People who hire me, a random series

Nancy Shanks and Kelsey Anglin are event planners for the OSU Foundation, they can make any room look great, and any event they are at more fun. They hire me a lot for their events, and they love to have there photo taken.

Accountants are hard to shoot

Photographed an accounting professor at OSU last week for The OSU foundation. Jarred Moore holds the Mary Ellen Phillips professorship, creted in honor of the longtime OSU accounting professor who Shari had as a professor long long ago. You can read the story here.

David and Darlene

Here is one of my favorite photos from my first wedding of the year, I meet David and Darlene, when they came into the studio during the downtown Corvallis Wine Walk in March.
